Will Cross is the Director of the Copyright & Digital Scholarship Center at N.C. State University where he provides guidance and support for author rights, fair use, licensing, meeting funder mandates, managing scholarly identity, and open pedagogy.
As a student at UNC-Chapel Hill, Will earned an M.A. in Technology & Communication, a J.D. in Law, and an M.S.L.S. in Library Science. Before joining the NCSU Libraries, Will worked in academic and law libraries, in constitutional litigation, and at the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Will speaks and writes on legal issues and open culture and serves as an instructor in the UNC SILS.
His current IMLS-funded research is focused on developing open educational resources (OER) for teaching scholarly communication and on the development of an “Open Textbook Toolkit” that leverages library publishing services to support open pedagogy.
